Postdoctoral Fellow
Hyunjin is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Cohen at The Rockefeller University. She received her B.Sc. in Systems Biology and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Yonsei University, South Korea, through the M.S./Ph.D. combined program. During her Ph.D. training in the laboratory of Dr. Jaewhan Song, she studied how protein–protein interactions and post-translational modifications regulate metabolism and cell death, with a particular focus on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
In the Cohen lab, Hyunjin investigates the bidirectional crosstalk between adipocytes and endothelial cells, focusing on how cell–cell interactions and inter-organ communication contribute to the development and progression of metabolic diseases such as obesity. Her research seeks to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying obesity memory and to better understand the biological processes governing weight loss and weight regain.
